ENGLISH STERLING SILVER LETTER OPENER

Pleased to offer this wonderful and whimsical English letter opener in the form of a 18th century sword.  Offering excellent attention to detail in every aspect of the sword is shown, down to the wood handle.
The sword measures 10 inches long.  The reticulated guard is 2  inches across.
The blade is 8 inches long. The pommel is integral to the wood hilt.
The piece weighs 55 grams (1.7oz)
Custom in design, the sword is most likely of European style of the mid 18th century.
Punched with the makers mark of J.B for James Fenton, lion passant for assayed English silver, City code of an anchor for Birmingham, and date code letter of an "X" for 1922,
