Description
From the 1920s to 1933 Thanksgiving Day in Chicago would typically see the Chicago Bears matchup against the Chicago Cardinals. This was the case in 1932 which this program is from – Thanksgiving Day 11/24/32.
Although both teams would call Wrigley Field home in 1932 the program issued for this game is the one issued by the Cardinals for home games.
The front cover advertises the next game to take place 3 days later on 11/27 with the Boston Braves (later Redskins) in their inaugural year coming to town.
Featured in the lineup for the Bears are the legendary players Red Grange and Bronko Nagurski.
The date is recorded in pencil inside on the top of the right page and the score is also recorded in pencil as a 34 to 0 Bears win with the Bears players who scored noted below the scoring grid.
Overall the program is in vg-ex condition.
Signs of wear but not abused.
There is a compacting fold crease down the center where someone folded the program and likely brought.
This has flattened out over time and the program lays completely flat.
There is also an abrasion to the left edge of the program with some minor surface loss which can also be seen from the inside.
No spitting to spine.
Some light corner wear but the program is fully intact and handable.
Only example of this program I have ever seen as these 1931 to 1933 foldover Bears and Cardinals programs are scarce given the height of the depression.
1932 was a special year for the Chicago Bears with them playing an NFL Championship game against the Portsmouth Spartans in the Chicago Stadium which they emerged victorious to claim the title as 1932 champions.
